Build Magazine 12 MFM is celebrating the company’s 55th Anniversary in 2016. The manufacturer is located in Coshocton, Ohio, USA, and provides the HVAC and construction industry with innovative waterproofing products. All of the company’s products are self-adhering membranes that provide quick and easy installation, reliable performance and outstanding cost savings. ounded in 1961 by Robert E. Simpson, MFM quickly established themselves as a robust, reliable supplier of waterproofing and weather-barrier products, belying their humble origins. Today, MFM products are shipped globally and are sold through HVAC and building supply wholesalers or distributors. Having initially started through producing sub-grade pipe waterproofing membranes, the company today offers more than 30 different product lines to cover virtually any exterior waterproofing application. These include low-slope roofing membranes, roofing underlayments, window and door flashing tapes, multi-purpose waterproofing membranes, specialized waterproofing tapes, and HVAC duct and pipe wrap. In particular, though, its their FlexClad™ line that give MFM a focus of pride in the company. FlexClad™, manufactured in the United States by MFM Building Products (MFM), is a multi- layered, flexible jacketing system that protects critical duct and piping against the toughest environments. This pre-fabricated, self-adhering waterproofing membrane resists water leaks and vapour transmissions, preserves the efficiency of thermal insulation, and the UV-resistant embossed aluminium top surface reduces energy costs. The FlexClad design is itself a small miracle, comprising a UV-resistant embossed aluminium top surface to reflect heat and lower energy costs. The cross-laminated polyethylene reinforcement material is extremely tough and flexible, while the rubberized asphalt adhesive system is aggressive and provides a tight seal. All of this combines to make a robust system that resists water leaks and vapour transmissions, preserves the efficiency and integrity of thermal insulation, and exceeds 25/50 Flame/Smoke Rating. To offer its client base more choice and MFM offers two FlexClad product lines. FlexClad-400™ is a 45- mil product that is available in 36” x 33.5’ (91cm x 10.2m) rolls. FlexClad-250™ is a thinner, 25-mil product that comes in 36” x 50’ (91cm x 15.2m) rolls. Both products are available in Aluminum, White and Almond surface colors. The minimum installation temperature is 40°F (4.4°C) to clean, dry surfaces for best adhesion properties. The company offers architects and builders with Guide Specifications, technical documents and warranty information at www.flexclad.com. Whether it is a new project or seeking protection for an existing installation, FlexClad can provide the ultimate waterproofing protection.
