Build Magazine 24 Pod Lodge Innovation from the Hideout House Company he Hideout House Company has launched a brand new concept in the way we view holiday accommodation, be they ‘staycations’ or short breaks: Superglamp. With customers becoming increasingly discerning and sophisticated, Superglamp consists of innovative ‘pod lodges’ or ‘tiny houses’, which address the current gap in the market for accessible & affordable accommodation, with a point of difference. For the second year running, the number of Britons taking a short break within the UK continues to increase – 73 per cent are currently intending to take a short break in 2016 and 27% find a UK holiday more appealing than in 2015. Brexit, fears of overseas terrorism and the weak pound are also key drivers in fuelling an interest in unique staycation breaks that combine comfort with character, and this offers businesses an opportunity to expand and diversify their current offering. Founder and Director of The Hideout House Company, Simon Fearnehough, said, “We have noticed a real gap in the market for something as pioneering as Superglamp, which has been reflected in the rise of Britons holidaying in the UK. The buoyant hospitality industry can capitalise on this by offering quirky and unique on-site accommodation. “The feedback to date on Superglamp has been really positive and our pods have been fully booked over the summer at select holiday and camping parks. We are confident that the concept will appeal to other venues including country pubs, golf clubs, hotels or bed & breakfast offerings and are looking forward to the opportunity to work with customers to offer guidance and inspiration.” All pods can be customised to meet specific needs and business requirements, and can be easily moved and installed. Conforming to the Mobile Home and Caravan Acts, the pods are pre-manufactured mobile units, which are not only environmentally friendly due to their high levels of insulation, but are also built to last, requiring very little ongoing maintenance. Fearnehough adds, “the practical convenience and originality of the pod lodges also ensures a strong return on investment and reassurance for businesses who are keen to stand out from the crowd.” To ensure maximum comfort, each lodge is its own self contained unit and includes a shower room and toilet, a kitchenette and dinette and is able to sleep up to four people. The pod lodges come with varying options of adding an extended deck area with sunken hot tub, hammock, welly storage crate, reclaimed drinks table with built-in ice box, and other attractive features. The pod lodge range is comprised of two designs, namely the Hideout House Cottage and the Hideout House Cabin, costing from £15,000 up to £30,000, and is also targeted at private and residential customers, as well as the hospitality market. Building on the company’s expertise and knowledge in the educational sector, Superglamp guarantees eco-friendly, quality and original accommodation that can be enjoyed all year round.
