Build Magazine 62 hat is SMARTGLASS Dynamic, Pow- ered by SageGlass? SMARTGLASS Dynamic is a brand new adjustable glazing product which suits both residential and commercial properties. The light and heat allowed through the glazing can be controlled electronically, so the user has the option of clear, intermediate and fully-tinted glass. The three tint levels can be selected at the touch of a button, and you can switch between them as you choose, without the glass losing clarity or the tint losing intensity. Glare and intense sunlight can be eliminated at the flick of a switch, which helps to regulate room temperature and ease eye-strain. • The Full Tint The full tint setting still allows you to see out of the window/door/conservatory roof but blocks a fantastic 96% of the sun’s rays. Light transmission through the glazing comes down to just 1% when using the Full Tint. • The Intermediate Tint This ‘in-between’ tint stage is ideal for minimising glare whilst still allowing a good amount of light through. This is the stage at which reading and TV viewing is most comfortable. • The Clear State When the glazing is clear, it acts just like ‘normal’ glazing and does not look any different. One benefit to the clear glazing state is that it will still reduce heat loss, thus being more environmentally friendly than other types. SMARTGLASS Dynamic does not require blinds or curtains, which allows you to retain your view of the outside world whilst enjoying reduced temperature fluctuations and brightness. Why is this new technology exciting? In residential properties, conservatories are currently going through something of an evolution. Homeowners are branching out in order to find solutions to the year-round usability issue, particularly now that the rules have changed about the amount of clear glazing required for it to be classed as a conservatory (and therefore require no planning permission). Solid ‘tiled’ roofing systems and the re- placement of polycarbonate roofs with more modern glazing has helped many conserv- atory owners enjoy the space all year round – even in the very cold winter or very warm summer months. SMARTGLASS Dynamic widens these options further, giving homeowners the chance to keep their glazed roof lanterns and gain control of the opacity of the glass instead of choosing between one or the other permanently. From a commercial standpoint office premises could benefit from SMARTGLASS, powered by SageGlass as well. Being able to control glare for meetings involving pres- entations, and keeping the temperature at a comfortable level in the summer can have wide-reaching benefits for all staff. Reducing glare on computer screens and doing away with expensive, dust-collecting blinds or curtains may also be financially beneficial for a company over time. Introducing a NEW Revolutionary Glazing Technology: SMARTGLASS Dynamic Every so often, a new product enters the market which revolu- tionises the industry and provides a wide range of future design opportunities. Here at Evander, we believe that SMARTGLASS Dy- namic -a new glazing technology which is powered by SageGlass - is the ground-breaking product of the year. Read on to find out how it works and how it could benefit your future projects. W
