A further eight sites were awarded Seals of Excellence. The Regional award winners will now go on to compete for the Supreme Awards to be announced in January 2017. Now in its 36th year, Pride in the Job is the only award scheme in the UK to recognise the contribution a site manager makes to a development. It is one of the most intense and celebrated awards in the industry, marking out recipients as exceptional performers in UK housebuilding. It has helped drive up the standard of new UK homes, producing a better end product for homeowners. NHBC inspectors began judging developments for the current Pride In the Job campaign fourteen months ago, assessing managers against stringent criteria based on the definitive technical standards laid out by NHBC. Known as ‘the Oscars of the House Building Industry’, winning an award is an exceptional achievement, and for 36 years, NHBC has been rewarding the best site managers in the UK delivering the high quality homes the country needs. A non-profit distributing organisation with no shareholders, NHBC’s role is to support the industry NHBC Awards Builders for Contribution to High-Quality Homes in Wales R in maintaining and improving the build quality of new homes for homebuyers, whilst providing the benefit of its 10-year Buildmark warranty protection, when required. The company does this through a wide range of activities, from standards setting through technical support to warranty and insurance. It invests any surplus into activities that improve new homes further, in particular through its research arm, the NHBC Foundation. Taking pride of place as the UK’s leading new-home warranty provider, Paul Edwards, NHBC’s Regional Director, congratulated them on their win. “Pride in the Job is now firmly established as a significant proof of distinction for the best site managers in the UK,” he commented. “The fact that winners are automatically entered into the competition based on the results of their work onsite is a huge endorsement for all winners. It’s been a tough year of judging starting way back in July 2015 and it’s a long hard road to win a Pride in the Job Award. The Awards recognise site managers who know how to go one stage better, whose hard work ensures we live in high quality homes and rewards dedication and expertise. “Last year NHBC registered nearly 4,700 new homes in Wales, site managers play an important role in delivering these. By recognising exceptional site managers like these, Pride in the Job promotes continuous improvement in the quality of new homes, year on year, for homeowners and their families to enjoy.”
