Build September 2016
Build Magazine 44 Snapkin offers a snapshot of the new generation of French start-up companies looking to carve out a new, distinct niche, in a hugely competitive industry. Specialising in generating 2D and 3D models of building interiors and floor plans, the founders, Jérémy Guillaume and Damien Dous, along with their team, offer the first tool to automatize drawing of 3D architect plans using a SaaS web service. It affords creation of digital model and architect plan exportable on professional architecture software. This process takes few minutes against 3 days of work for 1000 square meters. ur overall aim is to go on in improvement in service speed and accuracy. On the other end, we are building strategic partnership with 3D scanners companies and their distributors in order to quickly distribute our service. This will lead us to be the main company in 3D architectural drawing that speeds up and simplifies the work of our clients. This approach has been more than enough to give Snapkin a distinct edge over its competitors, but Jérémy goes further, to discuss other boons that customers find when dealing with his company compared to his competitors. “Our patented developed technology gives us a main competitive advantage. This provides to our clients a service quick and accurate. Moreover, the operating processes installed in all the company enabled us to have a good reputation among the market. “Also, we learned that the weight of data is a very important problem when you use a 3D scanner, when a classical project can take 20 Gigabit you can imagine the problem of storage cost or the problem to exchange data online. “The most important thing we learn of them is the needs of our clients have to be in the core of our service.” In direct response to this, Snapkin developed and launched their flagship Snapsend product. Jérémy claims that this is the first software able to achieve cloud-compression without suffering a loss of accuracy points. It can reduce its size by 60 to 80 per cent to facilitate its operation and archiving, using an algorithm that removes unnecessary elements whilst retaining more detailed ones. Now that Snapkin are well positioned on the national French market, they are looking forward with unmatched anticipation to starting their development across Europe throughout 2017. “Of course, we plan to release new products during this important process, and our R&D team have been very successful in managing to develop many new ideas within the last two years that can be adapted in these new markets. To aid in continuing our development, we are actually raising €2 million to achieve our international expansion plans, and go on to develop our product for wider audiences.” Modelling the Future of Interior Design “O Interior Design & Decorating
