Our Head Office is in Barnsley and we have 6 UK manufacturing operations, employing around 400. Who are your clients? UK Builders Merchants are our main customers, although we also actively export. Our Yorkshire Flowerpot range is stocked by many of the UK’s leading garden centres. What makes you unique? As a fourth-generation family business, we’re very much a people business: many of our employees, customers and suppliers have been associated with Naylor for decades. We also have a long-term outlook in terms of our business decisions. What’s your biggest challenge facing you at present? The construction industry thrives on confidence and stable economic conditions, and the current European referendum related uncertainty is most unwelcome What’s the aim for your business? We want to double our £50m turnover to £100m by 2020 What’s your company’s biggest challenge? We’re trying to achieve dramatic growth without external equity investment, although the support (and debt facilities!) of our bankers HSBC has already allowed us to come a long way What individual in your industry and beyond do you admire the most and why? Early in my career I worked in the City with accountants Deloitte. One of my clients was Hays plc, whose Chief Executive Ronnie Frost was inspirational – a real entrepreneur. Closer to home, our Non-Exec Chairman David Fletcher, an experienced local businessman, is a great sounding-board.
