Build December 2016
Build Magazine 26 Interior Design & Decorating “My latest project is restructuring a hotel, dated back to 1466, in Bavaria. It is during projects such as this that history becomes vivid, and you can almost feel Goethe himself emerging from a nearby stagecoach – in fact, the owner found silver coins dated back to 1510 from Tyrol, when it was ruled by the Habsburgs. These buildings are still there because they are built in a really good quality, and modelled in a timeless design; this is something that I am especially keen to achieve in every one of my designs. “One of our latest really successful projects, meanwhile,” she continues, “was the alteration of a house of the 60s, which we restructured into a modern house in a perfect energy balance. The combination of an energy-saving construction and the use of energy- producing photovoltaic panels led to an energy yield of 370 to 22 kWh per square meter per year.” lla Basqué creates sustainable spaces in a perfect energy balance. Her design studio in Regensburg is an innovative and creative network with also international references. As an Interior Architect and Real Estate Expert she specialises in restructuring, alteration and modernisation of commercial and residential projects. She discusses her approach to ensuring that clients receive the best result. “Real Estate is always connected to its people, culture and environment. We first analyse what the customer really wants and needs. Several conceptual layouts are developed. “This is because we spend more than 80 per cent of our lifetime indoors, and therefore the quality of our buildings is essential for the quality of our lives. Our solutions are designed to delight and surprise our clients because we incorporate function, design, innovative technique and even economics into our buildings. A key part of the process involves staying close to our clients, talking them through every step of the project; sometimes we even accompany our clients in a running construction site as a consultant. “It is this client focus, combined with our use of innovative design, energy sustainability, latest technology and the huge knowledge of construction over centuries. As high-quality construction is quite expensive, we want to offer a timeless and long-lasting work, acting as a reliable partner so that we always meet budgets and time schedules.” Innovation, as a central part of the firm’s approach, requires an ongoing focus on remaining at the forefront of industry developments, including the Basqué Et Partner is a creative network of architects, interior designers and specialists from across the construction market. We invited Lead Architect Ulla Basqué to talk us through her role in creating exquisite buildings which combine function with stunning aesthetics, which has been hailed as a style worthy of the Interior Designers of the Year, Germany through the 2016 BUILD Awards. Design meets Energy U latest advancements in technology. Ulla explains her commitment to ensuring it utilises the most cutting edge technologies, where applicable, in every one of its projects. “Here at Basqué Et Partner, we are very often the first to implement new technologies in architecture. When building a bathhouse in 1996 F.L we already implemented the largest solar Vacuum tube collector in Bavaria, which not only gained the energy to heat the water but it was also a semi-transparent foreclosure against unloved audiences. As a result of this innovation, we received the Golden Creativity Award from the Federal Association for Swimming Pools and Wellness.” Recently, Ulla’s projects have taken her overseas as she increasingly finds work around the world, with this global demand acting as testimony to the high regard to which her clients hold her. In her concluding comments, she outlines her latest project and what the future holds for both herself and her business. Before the alteration After the alteration
