Build Infrastructure Awards 2016 magazine

Build Infrastructure Awards 16 One of England’s leading architectural companies, winner of five international awards in four years, including ‘Innova- tion Award for Civic Architectural Designs’, Debbie Flevot- omou Architects focus on architectural design inspired by the arts and dance movements. Established in 2011 by ex Foster+Partner architect Debbie Flevotomou and grew to twenty architects in a first year, the com- pany provides bespoke and innovative architectural design solutions far beyond the boundaries of conventional architec- ture. The design is under the same guide- lines as the Iraqi Architect Zaha Hadid proof that the founder nickname during work in Libya was “the Blonde Zaha”. Last year the company won the prestig- ious title “Best High-End commercial ar- chitects in the uk 2015” for the design of the groundbreaking facade of Tower 42 in London and the mix-used environmental friendly hotel development in Abu Dhabi. Designing projects of any scale, from a half kilometre sea-front masterplan in Tripoli, to a single house extension and interior design in Central London, the company’s philosophy is that size is not important as long as the design is inno- vative, original and inspiring. The projects are always been asked to be featured by the press and the publicity raises the profile of the clients and the value of their sites. Managing director Debbie Flev- otomou is also the Chairlady of Riba South London and a dance choreographer. Speaking on the firm she states: “The aim of our designs is always to raise the spirit, induce emotion and stimulate the senses. We create elegant, creative and dynamic spaces which enhance the site and its surroundings thus multiplying the site’s value.” In a market dominated by com- mercial multinational companies, Debbie Flevotomou architects has succeeded by being a boutique firm, delivering the highest stand- ards of care for their clients as well as providing the client with over thirty to forty design options per meeting and the highest standards of innovative design and technology by co-operating with the top techno- logical advance companies. Moving forward, the next phase of growth will see the company open- ing a new office in Dubai, and there are also plans to expand into the USA and Asia. Additionally, the com- pany is featuring a competition with the Royal Academy of Dance where the winner will have the chance to have their bedroom design and built based around their own chorograph- ical movements. The competition is part of the company’s charitable activities and is a key part of their fo- cus to make architecture accessible to the wider audience.
