Bernhard talks us through the firm’s latest project, its location and how enjoying the scenery can sometimes be a great perk of the job. He also details how he aims to work hard for his clients and produce quality results. “Recently, the firm has been working on a residential block containing eight flats in the countryside. The block of flats is located on a slope but is situated in a lovely area and all flats are rented out. I am always aiming to be the best and the most successful architect and I achieve this by working hard and achieving great results for my clients.” When approaching new clients, and undertaking new projects, it is important for any architecture firm and its staff to establish exactly what is required by the client. Bernhard is no different and has to adapt to any demands made by the client, ensuring he has the necessary tools and brainstorms required to produce the best result. “Firstly, I have to understand as fully as possible the need and goals of my clients. Accordingly, I choose the necessary tools and thoughts to get to a desired result. I always aim to make myself the best choice for clients, which coincides with my overall mission and helps me with my work.” Providing us with an overview of the architectural industry within Switzerland, Bernhard notes that there are many wonderful sculptures and buildings currently being built within Basel, with well-renowned companies contributing to a thriving industry. More and more materials are being introduced to the industry, forcing architects to be more considered when selecting their materials.
