20 Build 2017 Architecture Awards ince 2010 AV Architects have delivered a more personal and bespoke service to our clients in Kent, London and the South East, building on experience gained from over 20 years in award winning practices in Europe and Asia. Esti and Neil met whilst both working in the renowned RIBA Gold Medal winning practice of Scott Tallon Walker in Dublin during 2001. Neil was returning to STW following a year working in Australia whilst Esti had decided to leave Spain to broaden her knowledge by working in a unique modernist studio. A desire for greater design freedom lead to a move back to Spain where Neil collaborated with Dr. Fernando Bajo and Esti created her own practice. On returning to the UK with their young family Neil and Esti decided to take the plunge and create their own practice. Neil and Esti share a little about what makes them stand out and their current commissions. “What makes us different? There are undoubtedly lots of talented designers out there but we think we strike the right balance of meeting our client’s requirements without compromising the intellectual concept and the quality of the architectural design. After working on different scale projects we ended up falling in love with domestic architecture. Firstly, because we find working with traditional houses really inspiring and, secondly, because we are excited about working closely with our clients to create unique living spaces. To create something timeless apart from a good design team you need a special client and a great builder. Dedication and respect are fundamental to our success, together with integrity.” Looking ahead, there are plenty of exciting projects to keep AV Architects busy, as Neil and Esti conclude. “Currently we have lots of really diverse projects. From a newly designed Neo Georgian mansion, to a minimalist glass extension in a grade 2 listed building.
