BUILD - Architecture Awards 2017

42 Build 2017 Architecture Awards eadquartered in Tokyo and with additional offices in Okinawa and Seoul, APOLLO is able to support a range of clients worldwide with projects which range from private residencies to offices, renovations to new builds. Yuya talks us through the firm’s approach to architecture and how it works to create truly unique spaces. “Design, Security and Function are the first imperative elements of architectures but simultaneously, we as architects need to design creative space which meets and exceeds our clients and societies expectations both aesthetically and logically. The space originated from the rapport of Human, Nature and other artefacts interconnects the society and the environment in the gradual evolving time. “The coexistence of this life form is the intrinsic role of architecture to determine the state of spatial leads, the channel of light and wind, and the selection of materiality. With a sensitive and drastic posture, APOLLO is committed to delivering innovative architectures which widen perspectives and deepen insights without being prevailed by the trend.” Alongside architecture, APOLLO provides a range of branding services, often supporting clients to develop their brand from nothing. Working on such a vast array of projects requires a communicative, supportive approach, as Yuya explains. “Whenever I start a new project, I try to ask all clients’ requirement, then clarify the building concept. Through this approach, I am able to meet their needs and ensure an outcome which they will enjoy.” Technology is taking a strong hold over the architecture industry, however Yuya believes that traditional approaches ensure client satisfaction and a strong overall outcome which meets everyone’s individual needs. “Personally, I think the 3D CG technology is force to raise up architecture presentation level. Despite this, I also think that making the physical model is more important to share the idea with stakeholders. Traditional techniques in architecture are at risk of dying out in Japan as many young people do not wish to work in this market, and therefore it is important that we continue to offer them to meet the needs of our clients and preserve the level of excellence which we have come to pride ourselves on for as long as possible.” Overall the future looks bright for APOLLO, as the firm seeks to expand even further and grow to meet the ever evolving needs of its clients, as Yuya concludes. “In the future, architecture will be systematic, and thanks to this development in the market I can produce better quality of the buildings and reduce the working time. Additionally, I am looking to grow the business internationally, moving more into the UK market, and as such I want to get the advice to promote my architecture studio and projects.” Best Residential Architecture Firm - Japan APOLLO Architects & Associates is an international architecture firm dedicated to creating innovative spaces which meet the needs of its varied clientele.
