BUILD - Architecture Awards 2017

2017 Architecture Awards Build “Looking ahead, we have just started work on building our own offices. We bought a derelict toilet block from our local borough council around 18 months ago, and are now turning them into our studios. The building is highly visible within the World Heritage Site and very close to the historic mills and mill cottages. We are hoping that the studio will be a zero carbon development utilising solar photovoltaic panels powering an Air Source Heat Pump.” In parting, Richard predicts that within the industry, he sees the relationship between the client and staff becoming increasingly important, which he believes DKMY will be ready to cater for. “A client-focused approach can only be a positive thing - communication can only improve the design process. Ultimately, by working closely with our clients, we hope that we can continue to spread awareness on the issues surrounding sustainable living, and the role architecture plays in an environmentally friendly lifestyle.”
