There is no last project since we work simultaneously on over 30 projects. One of them is Schlosshotel Fleesensee, which was completed in Spring 2017 and is already nominated with several Awards.” “The outstanding project is a renovated hotel in the middle of Germany. The castle, built in 1842 in Baroque style has been renovated elaborately and is now the venerable case of the modern golf and sport resort. It houses spectacular design that creates a stunning contrast to the old building. Schlosshotel Fleesensee was renovated from ground up in two sections. Therefore, the highest value was placed on a comprehensive overall concept. Great emphasis was placed on details. Both the adaption of the listed building with newly designed interior design as well as the embedding of the new concept in the regional environment show the precision for details. High-quality materials create an exclusive, elegant ambience. Opulent design elements breathed new life into the hotel using selected materials. Definitely the biggest challenge was the listed building. “Since the huge park of the castle and the whole building is under monumental protection, the details and planning have been all coordinated very intensive with the monument protection authority. Finished planning had to be readjusted to fit in the monument protection guidelines. Also the aspect of the design was very important and a challenge. The aim was to let the old and prestigious building shine for itself. The details of the old buildings had been highlighted by an elaborately renovation. New elements which create a contrast to the old had been designed. Therefore opulent elements had been used, but always in calm colours and high-quality materials. Every material was selected to give a specific character to each room, but not forgetting practicality and durability.” Outlining the overall mission of the firm, Olaf uses history to explain its plans for the future. He believes that all projects are endless as there is always room for improvement, and with the way that technology is advancing it will not be long before modern buildings become old. “Had I been told in 1983 that it is possible to phone around the world, mail pictures and receive letters just with the help of a gadget the size of a cigarette pack and no fixed connection, I would have considered that impossible, which just goes to show that possibilities are boundless. The resulting disorientation needs to be organised and structured. What you have to do is find a passion that fulfils you.” Central to the firm’s success is its dedication to excellence and commitment to providing the best quality of service to clients. He talks us through his experience, noting how it will benefit him moving forward. “To us, and to me, competence isn’t merely knowledge but also the knowledge of what you don’t know. We concentrate on our passions, and that’s where our strength lies, which is not least due to the realistic approach we take to our competences. Having established my architect’s office in 1998, I was full of zest for action and optimism about what I would achieve and accomplish. After several training courses, I felt I was well equipped to enter the market as interior designer. Now, after 19 years and experience
