She then goes on to describe what makes the firm unique, referring to the knowledge that her staff possess. “As a woman director, I like to empower women, and therefore I have four women and two men. Recruitment wise, we keep it local as our brand is very driven by our local knowledge, so it is important to me that my staff have extensive knowledge of the local area. This is part of what makes Hunt Property stand out from the rest, our local knowledge and the service we offer.” In exciting times for the business, Hayley mentions a recent project that the business has undertaken, and it is clear that the team are looking forward to this opportunity in Hayley’s comments. “What is great news for us, we have been instructed to sell Chigwell Village, a new development of 43 detached houses, all valued at over £1Million. This is an incredible honour and we are working hard to secure buyers for the developer London Square.” Regarding what advice she would give to other women looking to succeed in the construction and build industry, Hayley remarks that self-confidence is a key attribute to success, earning respect and show- ing a good attitude, “Within the estate agency industry, women need to go for it, and must not be put off by burly builders or a male dominated environment. Women can work with men and show them that they are to be respected. Be firm but fair, show authority but with an attitude that is appreciated.” Building on the success on Hunt Property’s recent achievements, Hayley tells us what the future has in store for the company. She talks about the possible expansion of the company with regard to an increase in staff, and even mentions the possibility of exploring new areas. “Alongside our success and achievements, we are a growing team now of six employees and we are looking to recruit more staff, and build on our brand, as well as exploring the possibility of maybe another office in the area.” In her concluding comments, Hayley describes us what changes she would like to see within the construction and build industry, which would make it easier for women to succeed. She signs off by adding an acknowledgement that her clients are a factor in the company’s success, and is appreciative of everyone’s efforts. “Ultimately, I would like to see more women getting involved and by employers trusting women to learn about construction this is going to make the industry much more gender balanced.
