Through this expert oversight, we represent owners in ensuring a quality project is delivered.” Louisiana is a booming state, albeit one that is often considered as ‘flying under the radar’, out of view of its more northern and western counterparts. For those firms that are located in the region, there is a veritable bounty of opportunity when it comes to development, redevelopment, dynamism and creativity. There’s history here, of course, but there’s an appetite for artistry, with projects and designs that cannot be found elsewhere in the US. It’s a playground reveling in experimentation and innovation. “In North Louisiana we are blessed to have fantastic cities such as West Monroe, Monroe, Ruston, Bossier City, and Shreveport which are growing in the architectural industry. We have a region with a mix of historic and modern architecture. We have lots of residential, commercial and infrastructure projects in North Louisiana. We are blessed to have a rise in downtown developments, which includes historical buildings, mix used spaces and new construction projects. The rise of sustainable design energy efficiency in new construction projects is ever growing. We are seeing the region is growing in the increase in public infrastructure projects as well as new schools and hospitals/ health facilities. Luckily for TBA these projects require architects to design these spaces to meet the needs of the community. The architecture industry in North Louisiana is constantly evolving while focusing on sustainable design, historic preservation, and public infrastructure projects.” With all of that being said, the future of the firm remains one of growth as it looks to complement its portfolio of works with new endeavors that are sure to push industry boundaries. These include multi-family housing, commercial enterprises, educational facilities, and convenience stores, among many others in the works. You can see those on our social media or via our website at www.tbastudio.com.” Location: West Monroe, LA Client: Ouachita Parish School Board TBA Studio was approached to fully rebuild Boley Elementary School following a devastating fire in 2019. Completed in 2022, the final design and build included some 45,000 square foot of construction, including classrooms, a multipurpose room, administration area, library and cafeteria, among many other elements. Of particular importance to the school board – and to the design team – was the use of natural light wherever possible, and with this firmly in mind, the large support spaces were strategically placed to face north. This ensured that natural light could be utilized in these spaces, without the associated high heat gain and glare. Moreover, good sound proofing and acoustical considerations were included in areas that required them, ensuring quiet spaces and sound accentuation, where appropriate. To reinforce the ethos of the school itself, and to promote a fun, creative environment, TBA Studio used bright color palettes across all rooms in the design, as can be seen among the images included here.
