Gabriela Fukatschová, Founder of Modulor Architecture, perceives architecture as much more than a service, creating functional art that is both beautiful and practical. Client satisfaction is always the company’s top priority, regardless of budget constraints or individual specifications. Modulor Architecture primarily serves private clients but also deals with public tenders and buildings, designing everything from schools and parks to sports grounds and sports halls. The practice operates in Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and has also implemented several projects in Austria. Modulor Architecture seeks opportunities for European and non-European cooperation and has recently begun collaborating with an architectural studio in Rome, Italy in the realm of architectural competitions. Gabriela and her dedicated team are inspired by new assignments, competitions, and their talented colleagues to create new, experimental designs with a focus on functionality and sustainability. By building meaningful relationships with investors and clients, Modulor Architecture can ensure it continues to deliver exceptional value and exceed expectations. Early in her career, Gabriela Fukatschová graduated in Interior Design, Exhibition, and Scenography under Professor Ivan Petelen, and completed her Engineering studies under Professor Pavel Kosnác in Bratislava. She specialises in residential and apartment architecture, adopting an individual approach for each client and employing the tectonics of architecture to answer their specific needs. Since its inception, Gabriela has been the practice’s passionate leader, designing and managing projects in the field of public events and conservation of cultural monuments. Modulor Architecture first began working on The Villa Black and White in Košice, Slovakia in 2014. However, the project underwent several conceptions and was only fully realised in 2021. Gabriela shares, “The project Villa Black and White is interesting because of its setting in the hillside, the mass that winds around the two atriums, and the story of its creation. It was not originally a villa project at all but a standard project from a catalogue of family houses called Black and White, according to the colours of its facades. However, the client who approached us had a requirement, due to the atypical land he owned, that I should modify the flat project to fit it into the slope. “Through this project, I learned that every opportunity can be interesting and unique. You don't need to turn down unusual challenges just because you don't immediately see the potential. Looking at the world from a different perspective and finding new ways to design is exciting.” As a small female team of architects, Modulor Architecture is uniquely positioned to meet clients’ needs and individual requirements. The team enjoys taking the time to help clients fully realise their ideas and finds pleasure in every successful project. This professional joy can be seen in the results of its work and has led the practice to receive numerous international architectural awards, including the BIG SEE Architecture Award for three consecutive years.
