Hustømrerne recognises that there is a significant focus on the construction of terraced houses recently, in addition to a rise in sustainable practices. “We see that more and more projects are either DGNB-certified or have some focus on sustainability. We see great potential in this as most sustainable construction projects have a large proportion of wood, thanks to its low CO2 consumption compared to brick and concrete,” Morten notes. Internally, the company’s focus lies on its people. Hustømrerne believes that construction is all about people. This plays into many decisions made by the company, including its approach to new projects. Collaboration through clear communication is extremely important to Hustømrerne and is something that the company continually strives for. Communication is the key to achieving the best results, together. This approach is not limited to Hustømrerne’s client base, however, and extends into the company’s relationship with the community. We ask Morten to elaborate, and he says, “One of Hustømrerne’s most important missions is to work towards social sustainability, and that’s something we will continue to focus on. We are involved in many exciting projects. Among other things, some of our carpenters teach inmates in prisons so that they can more easily create a normal life and a career once they are free again.” Not only that, but Hustømrerne has also implemented a new initiative within its Aalborg department that teaches young students various carpentry skills. This initiative makes young people aware of the opportunities available to them within the construction industry and will ignite a passion for carpentry in the next generation. 2024 promises to be a fruitful year for Hustømrerne. The company has recently established a department in Odense, the centre of Denmark, where there are a number of exciting projects underway.
