One of many outstanding examples of GME’s work is the Casino Futur in Bremen which has received BUILD’s Architecture Award for Best Completed Commercial Architecture Project 2024 (Germany). The striking building is a collaboration between Christian Buck, Partner and celebrated Architect at GME, and Henning Krohn, Manager of GME Design and acclaimed Designer. Casino Futur is a team effort, designed, planned, and built by the experienced group GME Architekten. The existing building was unable to be renovated, leaving planners with the challenge of devising a creative solution for the narrow corner plot. GME’s team of talented planners decided on a modern interpretation of the Wilhelminian style, utilising large windows and an industrial design to create the special façade. The Casino Futur’s aluminium exterior perfectly complements the location, interacting with the adjacent buildings through an interplay of reflections and shadows. Its interior includes a think tank and community hub on the ground and second floor with the addition of a large ribbon window to extend the space into the neighbourhood. The superior structure is a dazzling addition to Bremen and has become a meeting place where residents are invited to congregate and collaborate on sustainable community projects.
