We also accept organic acids and bases, such as amines and acetic acid. “Regarding mercury waste, we can collect most metallic mercury-containing instruments. The firm are also able to take care of most of the inorganic mercury salts and salt solutions, such as mercuric chloride and mercuric sulphate, as well as organic mercury wastes such as phenyl mercuric acetate. If in small quantities, we can lab pack mercury waste or put it into drums and profile it as part of a waste stream.” Signature projects by Steve Rich and their sister companies Proud as the company are to service New Jersey and New York homeowners in their oil tank removals, repairing septic systems and in all the company’s work as environmental contractors, they have also greatly enjoyed being an integral part of some specific ‘signature projects’ in the Northeast area. Steve tells us about some of these, bringing this comprehensive and insightful interview to a close. “With our sister company Holes Infrastructure Solutions, we have been instrumental in expediting many recent projects that make the Garden State and its surrounding environs the epicentre of culture, sports and outdoor activities (we do like to support our local teams!) as well as paving — literally — a better life for our lower income neighbours. “Another such project, was where Steve Rich Environmental Contractors completed test holes for the New York Jets new training facility in Floram Park, New Jersey. SREC set to work on this time-rushed job utilising vacuum excavating, to ensure that no utilities were damaged at the new Jets training facility. With the start of the season looming at the new Metlife Stadium in the Meadowlands, which was incidentally the same stadium that hosted the 2014 Super Bowl, we got to work to ensure that the spot the Jet’s organisation picked was ready for the scheduled start to Jet’s training. “I’d also like to tell you about how Steve Rich Environmental Contractors was hired, through prime contractors, to remove all the hazardous waste at the old Yankee Stadium. Here, 27-time world champion New York Yankees, The New York Yankees and the City of New York worked expeditiously to raise the old Yankee Stadium with its old blue paint cans, lighting ballasts, fluorescent lights, pcb’s, lubricants, etc. We also cleaned all the remaining underground heating oil tanks, readying the old ball park for its final decommissions. It was me who really said ‘lights out’ at the completion of the clean-up, seeing to it that all the stadium’s famous outdoor lighting, having had illuminated so many night games, was recycled by EPA approved contractors. “Finally, I would like to stress that contributing to the betterment of our neighbourhoods and neighbours, on whatever scale, for recreational, home or professional purposes is why we do what we do here at both Steve Rich Environmental Contractors and Holes Solutions.”
