With its own production sites in Cologne and northern Germany, the firm represents well-known manufacturers in the acoustics and interior design industry. objectiv’s main clientele can be found in the industrial and administrative sectors, including law firms, medicals clinics and educational facilities, especially day care centres, which are a matter of the heart for the firm as it often finds that these rooms do not meet today’s acoustic requirements. “We offer acoustic solutions for every budget,” explains Director Pieter Niessen. “Another one of our core values is sustainability and green living which means reducing our carbon footprint in any way possible.” When engaging the firm for its services, clients can expect an initial informal consultation which involves getting to know the details of a client’s project. The objectiv team does this by analysing the current room acoustics, calculating the required optimisation, and advising on design decisions. The team is happy to accompany the projects through to installation, which can be carried out by its trained experts. Extensive information and individual sampling systems, as well as many years of consulting expertise, are available to all clients throughout the planning process. “We pride ourselves in our diligent work and customisation options relative to our client’s needs,” Pieter elaborates, speaking of what distinguishes the firm from competitors. “Generally, we see our strength in technical advice and planning, combined with the design aspect. In addition to the excellent quality of the products we represent, we offer a first-class service in terms of acoustic planning and design.” As previously mentioned, one of objectiv’s core values is sustainability, and Pieter tells us more about just how far its commitment to this cause goes. In fact, the firm has gone so far as to only use eco power at its Cologne location, with its employees being supplied with e-bikes, and a multitude of charging stations available for its fleet of electric cars. Furthermore, it is able to manufacture a high percentage of its acoustic products from recycled materials. For example, the absorbers of the ‘Smart’ series, for which the company won the prestigious Red Dot Design Award earlier this year, are made of at least 60% recycled fibres, 100% of which can be recycled after use. We speak to Pieter Niessen about the firm and find out more. o Room acoustics are becoming increasingly important in the construction industry. Pieter says it is very clear that the market wants to move away from glass and rock wool (a mineral fibre), that’s why objectiv offers the sustainable products that it does. “We offer to take back the products of this series up to 20 years after purchase and recycle them,” says Pieter. “In this way, we can contribute in the short, medium and long term to the consumption of fewer and fewer raw materials.” A recent project which objectiv undertook was the big German location of the advertising agency, TBWA in Düsseldorf. The challenges the company faced included the installation and renovation while business was running as usual and involved having to climb many floors with a lot of products. “We are proud to say that we were successful in furnishing several multi-person offices with our ceiling sail AluFrame Smart Ceiling and to supply the conference rooms with curtain systems.” Another one of the projects of which Pieter is especially proud is the University Hospital, also in Düsseldorf. objectiv was involved in the construction of this new building from start to end, from the architectural planning to the final installation of the sound optimisation products. “The one product that deserves an extra mention in times of the pandemic is the wall panel Sanoflex with its antibacterial properties and resistance to disinfectants which makes it particularly easy to clean,” he enthuses. With such a plethora of innovative products, and exemplary customer service to boot, it’s no surprise that objectiv was recently awarded the accolade of Best Room Acoustic Products Manufacturer – Germany in the BUILD Construction and Engineering Awards 2021.
