The company’s latest project is that of an undeveloped sloping hillside with a difference of 11.5m in levels across the site. The client sought to use this potentially problematic site to build an eight-storey apartment building that would have an ancillary car park formed from an existing entrance. These lower three levels would be where the car park is, cutting into the hillside and thus maximising the potential of a space that many would avoid due to its irregularity. The building is made using a steel frame with two central cores for its stability, which will support the precast concrete slabs. The retaining wall comprises of a king posts solution, a precast concrete plank that is at the rear and at both gables against its neighbouring properties. This structural design provides the client with a more fairly priced solution than the standard contig piling retaining wall, although with the same exceptional quality and durability.
