15 Leabrand is passionate about investing in the future of this industry more broadly, and its apprenticeships are one of the premier ways that this is being achieved. For example, the business’ thermit welding training departments offers these apprenticeships, as well as other such training courses, from its bases in both Kent and Wales, and is one of few businesses in the UK to do so. It is not only real-related projects where Leabrand shines, and other developments of interest include work for Costain Marine, which hired this team to construct a 270-metrelong waste delivery jetty which could be utilised by its barges. This began with the building of an onsite pre-cast manufacturing facility, which allowed for the production of large concrete structures that weighed more than 100 tonnes apiece. From in-situ form work to reinforcement, Leabrand deployed its encompassing methods to the full, creating more than 60,000m3 of concrete works and delivering this demanding project four weeks ahead of schedule. Finally, a project for Hinckley Point C, a nuclear power station in Somerset, saw this team travel to Avonmouth on behalf of Balfour Beatty, which had secured a contract to build a new segment manufacturing facility at this port between 2018 and 2021. Balfour Beatty reached out to Leabrand for support in setting up this factory and carrying out production, given the latter company’s extensive knowledge concerning precast concrete and automated carousels. Using 18 operatives and a host of other supplies, Leabrand both supported flow and increased production levels, contributing immeasurably to the finished project. As these example projects highlight, Leabrand is a company that is distinguished as a result of its untiring commitment to quality. Its workforce is comprised of subject matter experts, and through the knowledge that these individuals possess and the holistic support they provide to clients, things are done right first time.
