Mike begins with a brief history of Wavelogix’s technology. “In 2017, the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) wanted to reduce the premature failure of roads and bridges while limiting traffic closing times.” From the mind of Founder and CEO Dr. Luna Lu and her lab at Lyles School of Civil Engineering, Wavelogix was born from the resounding success of a research and development project. Since, the company has created its signature product, the market leading REBEL™ Concrete Strength Sensor. “Previous generations of maturity sensors,’ Mike continues, ‘relied on the temperature profile of concrete. They depended on concrete’s specific mix design, which required the contractor to manually calculate maturity curves while pouring dozens of extra concrete cylinders to crush at 1, 3, 7, 14, and 28-day intervals to determine concrete strength.” To Wavelogix, this process appeared both inefficient and less accurate than the team thought necessary. The mission was to create a product which outperformed this traditional method, and they succeeded. The REBEL™ Concrete Strength Sensing System does not rely on the same information, instead testing the elastic modulus properties of concrete while it cures in place. “This method provides a much more accurate strength estimate than traditional cylinder breaks, performed on cylinders that cure at different rates, places, and under different conditions than the concrete mass they are attempting to emulate. Wavelogix has developed the proprietary REBEL™ Concrete Strength Sensing System and data analytics platform.” For real-time testing of concrete strength inplace, Wavelogix has created the ideal IoT solution for highway and bridge projects, public infrastructure, vertical commercial construction, and precast concrete markets.
