We spoke to Founder Dave Brown to learn more about the firm and how far it has come over the past nine years. reated by Dave almost a decade ago, Brownstone Homes & Renovations draws on his extensive experience in the market. He discusses this in more detail and showcases how far his firm has come since the beginning. “Having been privileged to work under some very talented and driven carpenters and builders, I started Brownstone Homes & Renovations in 2010 in an effort to support what I saw as a need for high quality work and standards at affordable rates. As a company we are excited by challenges and over the years we have taken on lots of interesting projects that range from barns to dental offices to escape rooms. “Through all of this, our main focus has always been on residential construction. We are deeply passionate about creating homes that our clients will be able to make memories in. For us, every project is unique, but we build from the ground up. We are quite happy doing in-fills: tearing down a compromised or tired structure and building a client’s ‘forever’ home, or renovating and adding on extra space to help accommodate a growing family. In such projects we handle everything from the dismantling of the existing structure to installing the door bell and welcome mat and everything in between. No matter what style of project we undertake, the most important aspect is always working with the client to create their perfect space.” This approach helps the firm to achieve its core mission and consistently offer the standard of service that clients have come to expect, as Dave proudly highlights. “Since founding Brownstone Homes & Renovations, my overall mission has been to have a client who is both happy with the process during the project and happy with the results at the end of that project. This is a common objective, but what sets us apart is the fact that I am constantly taking steps to ensure that this is achieved on every project we work on. “As part of this focus, I limit the number of projects that my team and I take on so that we can focus our attention on each client, and I ask for a lot more involvement from my clients. My feeling is that if we are building a client’s house, then it is their project, and I strive not to put any parameters around them in terms C of products or changes. At the end of the day, I also want to make sure that it’s a project that the whole team can be happy with, and that we can stand back together and be proud of the outcome.” This client-focused, quality-driven approach resonates throughout every aspect of Brownstone Homes & Renovations’ projects. Dave explores how the firm works from the very start of the project right through to the end to ensure clients enjoy an exceptional standard of service and the perfect home at the end. “Every good project starts with a good base, and the first base is a clear understanding of the scope and costs by both the building team and the client. Once you have a clear path forward people are more inclined to work towards the goal, and that results in both a good working environment on site for the duration of the project and a happy client at the end of the project. “Attention to detail is incredibly important, as is passion in our work: I try to implement the best practices and latest in building science because I care about the project and the impact we are making, not just on clients’ lives, but also our environment. This is a key trend in the construction market currently, but it has been something I have been passionate about since I started my company, and as such I am committed to ensuring that every project is carried out to the highest possible standard whilst producing as little environmental damage as possible. I want to enhance the landscape in which my homes are built, not to blight it.” As he looks towards the future, Dave has high hopes for further success for Brownstone Homes & Renovations, as he proudly concludes. “Looking ahead, Brownstone Homes & Renovations aims to continue to offer the same exceptional standard of home building we have become renowned for. We have a wonderful group of past clients who thankfully are happy to refer us on, and this is a great source of pride for both myself and my team.
