Nowhere is this better showcased than in the team’s astonishing work on One Crown Place. This property allowed the team to demonstrate the whole spectrum of their services, including the team’s innovative early engagement process which is proving to be a huge success with every client. The project consisted of two prismatic towers, rising 28 and 33 As buildings grow ever bigger and more impressive, the need to ensure that they champion the highest of safety standards is clear. Fire safety, in particular, is one of the more challenging areas for many buildings. The team at CLM Fireproofing Ltd offer innovative methods of passive fire protection and firestopping. We take a closer look at the team and some of their most exciting projects to see what they have to offer. W storeys into the sky. At ground level stands a 6-storey building - home to 10,650sqm of high-quality office space, a variety of retail units and a boutique hotel and members’ club occupying Sun Street’s elegant row of Georgian terraces. The two concrete towers have different protection factors due to the multi-use nature of the building. The team collaborated with Mace to devise a strategy for passive fire protection. Passive protection’s purpose is to suitably protect all escape routes and compartment walls providing protection in emergency events for occupiers and residents in the building. The main part of this was using self-priming Nullifire SC902 intumescent paint to coat the structural steel framework, with a decorative finish. This allows the frame to remain on display. The protection achieved was a mixture of 90 and 120 mins. As well as this, they were asked to provide compartmentation services throughout the building. With external work on the residential towers already underway, all passive fire protection had to be coordinated with efficiency and exact precision. Firstly, the paint package was incorporated into the project schedule with rigidity. This was to ensure minimal disruption to Mace’s ongoing construction work. As well as this, the team co-ordinated the installation of penetration seals with other contractors. This facilitated safe and timely access to difficult-to-reach spaces whilst providing a fully compliant seal. The basement levels required some increased protection factors due to the high-risk nature of the room, providing up to four hours protection in certain areas. To achieve the different protection levels throughout the building, CLM Fireproofing had to be flexible with different manufacturers to ensure the client was provided with fully tested detail during installation. Work on One Crown Place is due to finish in the first quarter of 2021. The team at CLM Fireproofing are sure this will continue to be both a rewarding and stimulating project, and that they hope to collaborate with Mace again in the future. The secret behind the success of this project is in the team’s early engagement process allowing the CLM Fireproofing to engage with all the stakeholders and make plans that would not interfere with their work. On this project, this ensured that the team could produce a suite of tested solutions for all the firestopping of service penetrations throughout the building. Clive Miles - CEO
