To account for the noise, turbulence, and sheer size of the turbines, they are usually installed a long way from the cities and towns where the power is being consumed. While these wind farms can produce multiple megawatts of power and have clearly improved over time, they remain inefficient and intrusive on the natural environment, while being located a long way from the people they serve. Since the power generated from these wind farms is delivered to clients through the grid, they are also subject to the blackouts and brownouts associated with the grid.
