22 BUILD Q1 2022 Oct21177 Designs For Living It’s not enough for a space to be beautiful. The skill behind the team at Studio Gronda comes from their ability to create designs that are as practical as they are aesthetically pleasing. In the 2021 Design and Build Awards, the team were named Most Innovative Multifaceted International Design Firm, 2021 – Madrid. We take a closer look at how the team have managed to achieve such diverse success around the world. hen the team at Studio Gronda talk of a holistic conception of design, you can be certain that their approach is one which considers every aspect of how a space is used. The team’s design solutions are always based on functionality, namely a unique set of programmatic, aesthetic and economic considerations which must be fully considered at all times. Once aligned, the results are experiences and environments without parallel within the industry. Leading the way forward is the team’s Founder and Creative Director, Diego Gronda. Over the last thirty years, he has worked with internationally renowned clients, shaping the heart of their hospitality. For hotels, resorts, spas and restaurants, his ability to develop a unique identity has proven incredibly useful. W Over the years, Diego has been delighted to work with Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces, Virgin Hotels and the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company to name but a few of his more renowned clients. No matter what the project, Diego is able to bring to bring this wealth of experience to the table. Currently, one of the main challenges he faces is encouraging clients to embrace the concept of sustainability throughout a property. Many firms claim to support the principle and will advertise their properties as sustainable while putting in the bare minimum. Whilst sustainability does raise the costs of a project in many cases, the long-term investment often repays this. Throughout the pandemic, the Studio Gronda team have been able to maintain a steady workload, even though the Asian market has slowed down considerably as a result of the pandemic. As the global situation begins to settle once more, the team are able to take advantage of various new projects that pop up. Throughout 2022, the team will be not only moving into a larger space, but creating an environment where more design disciplines can be adopted. With new techniques, the team will be able to offer a wider range of options to their prospective clients. Making it through the last two years has not always been easy for Diego, but throughout his priority has always been the protection of his staff. The team have worked hard to avoid any salary or resource reduction, with the belief that it is talent that sets the firm apart from the rest of the industry, and creating an environment where that talent can thrive is key to securing future success. This approach has been proven over the last couple of years as the team emerge into the world once more, stronger and closer than ever. This will no doubt have a major impact on the designs the team works on, as they trust colleagues to offer a perspective which will enhance what is already there. The success of Studio Gronda comes from the top, and Diego Gronda has gone above and beyond to ensure that his team are always satisfied with what they are doing. We celebrate his tremendous success and look forward to what he and his team will construct in the weeks and months to come. Company: Studio Gronda Contact: Christine Olaso Email: [email protected]
