From across all sectors, Collina works for end user clients, investors, developers, contractors, and alongside architect, PM or engineer-led project teams. With all clients, the business focuses on four key areas, these being contemporary design, value, simple solutions and energy efficiency. The company works hard with its clients to manage the life cycle costs of M&E, designing simple, sustainable and user-friendly systems which function in practice as the desktop simulation intended. When onboarding a new client, the firm’s approach is to work collaboratively within the design team and client from the earliest stage. Its focus is on systems that maximise energy efficiency, minimise space, and deliver a great user experience “We encourage the detail of the building to be brought forward at the earliest opportunity, with particular focus on how users will interact with the space,” elaborates Tom Hill, one of Collina’s Directors and founder. “This de-risks a project, reducing the number of assumptions that are made, and removes unnecessary cost from the proposed construction. “Get it right, and building services design has an important, positive effect on the value and the perception of a building.” As part of ongoing refurbishment works, King Edward's School, Bath appointed Collina to carry out detailed design for the renovation of four science classrooms. The existing classrooms were dated and in need of remodelling to provide modern and spacious science classrooms. As part of the works, the classrooms were completely stripped out with all M&E services replaced. The new services within each classroom included new energy efficient LED lighting, new fan convector heaters and all new general services including power, data, domestic water services and drainage. The labs were provided with new teaching walls which included smart TVs, teachers podium and power to assist with teaching in each space. A spokesperson for the school, commented: “We are delighted with the finished results. Each lab was designed with our pupil experience in mind, bringing them closer to the action with the landscape layout, HD Clevertouch screens and practical-friendly workspaces. “From our youngest Year 7 pupils taking their first steps into the separate sciences to our most advanced students preparing for Oxbridge entrance interviews, our labs provide a comfortable, inspiring and accessible learning environment for all.” A recently completed project was Sephora Bullring in Birmingham. Collina is part of the Sephora UK store expansions, with the Bullring store opening in November. “This was a great job to be part of with a fabulous team!” commented Andrew Haug, also a Director at Collina. “We were contracted for mechanical and electrical design for this milestone project working alongside Kendall Kingscott Ltd & B Batch Group.” For its stellar work and commitment to client care, Collina was recently awarded the title of Best MEP Design Consultancy Firm 2025 - South West England, in the Design & Build Awards 2025.
