19 Q2 2018 Build arah Breeze is a sole trader architect specialising in listed buildings and works within conservation areas. Taking on all aspects of her business, Sarah does everything from meeting with clients initially in order to understand their requirements and completing measured surveys, all of which help Sarah to produce deliver results. During this initial meeting with clients, Sarah gets to know them and works hard to understand what the desired outcome is. Providing her with a brief, Sarah is able to go and work on exceeding the expectations of clients, something she believes is fundamental to the success of her firm and the happiness of the client. Having met with the client, Sarah plans drawings and applications, as well as coordinating with structural engineers, examines building regulations, and manages projects. The dedication and attention to detail which Sarah pays to clients and projects are key aspect of her overwhelming success. In an industry as competitive as architecture, Sarah’s designs and project must stand out in order to attract the best client and business. In order to do this, Sarah must adapt her work to fit with each solution that she comes across. Working mostly with clients who have young families and wanting to extend or renovate their homes, Sarah thinks a key attribute of hers is to create spaces that enables families to live well in their own home, changing them to live for the better. In this respect, Sarah has a young family of her own, and clients warm to Sarah, appreciating that she also understands what they are looking for. Instead of moving to a new house, Sarah has noted that many people are preferring to stay in their home, and renovate it in order to accommodate for their growing family, rather than move to a new house. This means she has had to familiarise herself with growing client expectations, something Sarah has done very well. Achieving unparalleled success in her career, there are some particular projects which stand out as a real highlight for Sarah. She worked on a large high-end residential project in Knightsbridge as Project Architect for four years, right from initial concept to completion. Sarah believes that this experience benefitted her hugely, as it led to her being able to work on over 100 projects since setting up my own practise five years ago. These have been projects of various sizes, and most locally, Sarah has had a great understanding of local planning law and building regulations due to the number of projects she has been involved with.
