Altering Eastern aesthetics to give them more of a modern interpretation, CL3 Architects Ltd innovative thinking results in them producing a unique showcase of distinguished designs. Providing leadership and a vision for the team of 70 professional and cre- ative individuals is William Lim, a renowned artist and architect who has established a notable presence within the global design scene. William has a keen appreciation of humanities and art, which is clear to see in the distinctive and contemporary designs which he creates. Since their inception, CL3 Architects Ltd have accumulated a diverse, award-winning portfolio which features an array of innovative designs which includes architectural and interior projects for hotels, corporate, restaurants, art spaces and art installations designs. CL3’s projects are seen in China, Japan, Thailand, Singapore, The United States and has participated in numerous Architectural Biennales across the world, in- cluding Venice Biennale’s International Architectural Exhibition in 2006 & 2010. Following their success in BUILD’s Design & Build Awards, we profiled the creative firm as well as their founder, William Lim to discover more about how they create and deliver such inventive designs to their diverse clientele. E includes their most recent success in BUILD’s Design & Build Awards where they were righteously selected as the Ones to Watch in China. In addition to this, the creative design firm is committed to respecting the ever-changing urban fabric of modern Asian cities, all whilst remaining true to their core cultural heritage. As a result of this focus and determi- nation, CL3 Architects Ltd have contributed to vast range award-winning projects throughout the years. One of their most successful projects was H Queen’s, a commercial building which mixes two distinct components – art galleries and F&B. By combining these two components, it creates a unique lifestyle building. Standing at 125 meters tall, H Queen’s is clad in low-e glass, achieving LEED gold status. Out of the 24 floors, 2/3 are designed for art galleries with 4.65 meters high floor to floor and 1/3 are restaurants. The exterior of the building is triple glazed with zero UV penetration. The building’s openable façade allows passive energy use and flexibility for tenants who wants natural ventilation. Looking ahead to what the future holds, the team at CL3 Architects Ltd will continue to deliver their strong urbanistic designs, whilst maintain the artistic value of the project.
