BUILD Q2 2020 28 Jan20516 hrough its unique creations the firm seeks “beauty based on health, practicality and sustainable futurism” according to Kyu Hyuk Lee. He discusses further his innovative mission and core values in the wake of being awarded for the Medicube Clinic project, based in Suwon, which was completed in 2019. “The most requested space design is from clients based in the medical sector, such as those of Medicube Clinic,” he explains. “We are often introduced through Internet advertising, from word-of-mouth or from networking between clients. “We provide innovative designs based on the philosophy of our space that the client understands in the logical communication process,” he continues, speaking of the initial planning stage. “We have also built much trust over the years with our unique take on style. “The philosophy we have consistently maintained about space design is a precondition for our design to change as life continues to evolve with changes in technology and social paradigm.” It was 14 years ago that Kyu Hyuk Lee decided to break with the ‘norm’ and not follow current trends that he saw emerging in the design space, but instead, pursue his own course of innovative style. “As a result of this we created Health-Oriented Space and Metamorphic Water-Space - an experimental study that fuses future science, humanity, and environmentalism, and this was the basis for our understanding and planning.” Changing The Future Working within the architecture sector, sustainable firm Balsang Creations specialises in designing a variety of interior and exterior spaces and environments, including commercial, medical, residential and urban aesthetics. Chief Executive Officer, Kyu Hyuk Lee, speaks to us further about the company. T Staff play a huge part in the success of Balsang Creations. The company is composed of the Creative Director, who is responsible for the concept planning of the project; the design LAB, which is composed of councils for research on a conceptspace; the design team; the spatial and visual graphic team; and the collaborative construction team, with each team works organically on the project. Kyu Hyuk Lee embellishes on the firm’s recruitment process. “Balsang Creation seeks support from job seekers on webpages and internet sites when it is necessary to increase staffing. We review relevant documents that show the factors that appeal abilities, and interview them to hire people who are passionate and responsible for designing the innovative space paradigm. This is because we need to prepare the condition that the space design field will face a great change in the future of technology convergence and will develop into a new form.” The firm is not immune to challenges within the industry however, as Kyu Hyuk Lee tells us. “A few years ago, we started to set aside a proposal cost for a space design plan, and the space units created with the research concept studied were copyrighted. It was a result of the damage of previous serious design theft. Since then, many competitors in this field have joined, which has helped establish awareness of copyright in spatial design field in Korea.” Looking forward, Balsang Creations has a bright future ahead of it and Kyu Hyuk Lee is determined to see his plans through to fruition. “Balsang Creation has a plan to build a global system based on the design philosophy and expertise that has evolved over a long period of time researching and attempting on human, social and future spatial design.”
