[email protected] In terms of the reintroduction, conservation and protection of threatened species, Michel is constantly looking to make the most of the rough and nature areas. He directs his construction approach to maximise the development of living areas for insects, amphibians, invertebrates, small mammals, that are going extinct or need to be preserved and protected. The main threats come from the drying of wetlands, and the disappear- ance or abandoning of grasslands and haymaking during butterfly flying periods. That means that the conservation of insect populations depends on the maintenance of grasslands, and the addressing of the ecological requirements of species. Onto the golf, and the course specifically. For a person to enjoy their gold, they must enjoy the atmosphere and scenery of the course. Michel and the team believe that the enduring appeal of a golf course lies certainly in its harmony, which is revealed to anybody who is familiar with it. Important to an exciting atmosphere, its consistency, dynamism and originality foster symbiosis between omnipresent nature and the beauty of a human work. Put simply, Michel is very careful and considerate when choosing a location for golf courses. For Michel and the team at Golf Optimum, the choice of location for a planned golf course hinges mainly on the presence of water, the quality of the soil and the availability of communication routes in the vicinity. However, Michel is aware that the apparent simplicity of a golf course that blends into its environment without upheaval is anything but simple. On the contrary, it is based on a painstaking study by its designer of every aspect of the proportions to create and the expression of the artistic forms to obtain. While creating a golf course, each detail that is imagined as part of the final work is of the essence. It is a work of intellectual alchemy, involving aesthetics, game strategy, harmony with Mother Nature and economy. The aim is to use reason and harmony to create the golf course in a way that takes account of the environment, easy access, the vision and desires of the developer and the enjoyment of users. Ultimately, in terms of moving forward, Michel and his firm, Golf Optimum, hope to contribute ever more to making golf course projects innovative, geared to protecting the environment and the well-being of all, and adapt- ed to their context. It is for this reason that Golf Optimum will continue to produce consistently excellent results, and that the company will further establish itself as a leader in the design and build industry.
