44 BUILD Q3 2021 Jan21051 Home, Sweet Home! Homeware plays an essential role in our lives, combining colour and form to create emotions that affect us on a day-to-day level. It’s little wonder that people turn to experts to create positive spaces that make a real difference to our lives. With the title of Homeware Designer of the Year (UK): Anna Jacobs under her belt from BUILD’s Home and Garden Awards 2021, Anna Jacobs Design is a leader in the field. We take a closer look at why so many people turn to Anna, and what she has done to achieve such success. nna Jacobs is a proudly British designer. Her work tries to encapsulate the wonder and beauty of the UK in every facet, with each product being made in Britain and created in its cultural capital, London. Since launching her first collection of homeware in 2015, Anna Jacobs has become a name not just recognised within UK borders, but around the world for its quality and beauty. Anna’s artistic origins began at school, with renowned artist Barrington Barber as her first art teacher at school. His passion for artistic pursuits inspired her to follow the path that the creative road made. Working her way through various options including theatre, singing, charity fundraising and heading the business development and marketing of a big city law firm, she returned to her true passion for art and design. Art and design can be a fickle world, but it is one where Anna was able to thrive. She studied painting at Camberwell College of Arts and interior design and styling at Chelsea College of Arts and Central St Martins, honing her craft and skills for the future. Trevor Bell, the acclaimed painter, saw her works and offered invaluable support and advice in Anna’s development. Her first painting was sold to her sixth form art teacher in 1985, but since then her art has been in demand on an international level. Private collectors across Europe have clambered for her incredible imagery. It was this delicate eye that was able to move seamlessly into the world of homeware, with every product putting beautiful art at the core. Her designs are meant to bring a sense of craft and home-spun charm into the home, while never compromising on quality. Anna’s eye for colour, and the way in which it can be manipulated within a home, has ensured that she has been in much demand over the years in a variety of different venues. The success of Anna’s approach has seen her speaking to the public about how they can achieve A the same incredible results that she has in their own lives. She has become a regular speaker at the Ideal Home Show and Grand Designs Live and, for several years, was a leading tutor of Colour for Interior Design at Chelsea College of Arts. Her skills are not just limited to bringing dreams to life, but embrace offering others the opportunity to grow as well. When people talk about Anna Jacobs, they talk about her ability to manipulate colour, to add homespun charm to properties and to add an unmistakable warmth. In many ways, her real skill comes from transforming a house into a home, making it somewhere that people want to live, and enjoy living in. We celebrate her tremendous success and look forward to seeing what her next big achievements will be in the future. Name: Anna Jacobs Email: [email protected]
