BUILD Q4 issue
23 Q4 2018 Build rawing on many years’ experience, Innovate Lifts’ technical team work with an extensive range of lifts from suppliers both in the United Kingdom and abroad. Benefitting from long-term relationships with leading international manufacturers, Innovate can find the right solution for clients whether the lift is to move goods or people in a private or public setting. All projects are managed with the aim of clearly identifying and agreeing the client’s specific requirements, and then working with representatives at each stage to ensure that the best solution is implemented. Having identified the most suitable product for customers, our project team will work with them to ensure that all their requirements are met within set timeframes. Based in Kent, so providing easy access to London and the Home Counties, we operate across the country with recent projects spread from Hawick in the Scottish Borders to the Isle of Wight and from Blackburn to Brighton. Highcliffe Castle in Dorset, a stunning nineteenth century country house built in the romantic and picturesque style offered a challenging brief recently with the need to install two platform lifts in the museum area. The castle has Grade 1 status on the Statutory List of Buildings of Special Architectural and Historical Interest. We always work to ensure that our lifts are the best fit for their surroundings. On this occasion, the very special nature of this building meant that even greater emphasis was placed at each stage on ensuring that the lifts were as much in keeping with the beautiful surroundings as possible, whilst meeting the practical aim of providing access for all visitors. To achieve the desired outcome, Innovate worked closely with represent- atives of the castle staff, the project architects and building consultants. As part of an extensive building development project, the installation of the two passenger lifts had to fit in with a very intensive, pre-set project timetable. The major challenge was to install a very modern piece of machinery into a historical setting without upsetting the equilibrium and aesthetic of the sur- rounding museum. One lift is fully glazed while the other has been carefully colour-matched to ensure it is befitting the surroundings. Through detailed discussion and planning, we were able to install lifts that enable all visitors to enjoy the full experience of visiting such a classic English country house. The successful completion of projects is facilitated through maintaining clear communication with clients throughout the entirety of each project; from ini- tial brief, site visits and drawings through to site preparation, installation and handover. Clients are provided with clear guidance as to the preparation of sites in order to facilitate successful installation and putting the lift into oper- ation. We work to deliver the lift and engineer to a prepared site as directed by the client’s build timetable to facilitate an efficient installation. Once the lift is in place and operating, we want our clients to derive the maximum benefit for their investment in modern lift technology and therefore offer servicing packages to suit different needs, usage levels and budgets. Elevated Success Working with a wide range of clients - architects, property developers, housing associations, local authorities and other lift companies - Innovate Lifts installs, repairs and services platform lifts. Following their success in the Construction & Engineering Awards where they were selected as the Platform Lift Supplier of the Year 2018, Installations Manager, Dave Newman takes time to provide us with a detailed insight into the award-winning services they provide. D The overriding aim of the business is to provide customers with the best platform lift solution for their project. This may mean the installation of a new lift, fixing problems with an existing one or carrying out regular servicing to installed lifts to ensure that customers enjoy the benefits of lift technology for the full lifetime of their selected lift. A platform lift is often the solution to a new access requirement and can be installed without the need for extensive builders works and the associated costs. This can often be a persuasive factor for selecting a platform lift over the alternative types available in the market. We recognise that in the construction industry all projects are different whether that be due to design, user requirements, time or space restrictions or budgets. For that reason, we work to gain a clear understanding of the exact need of the end user and to work with all associated parties to ensure that we can meet and where possible exceed that requirement. Although subject to the usual ebbs and flows of the construction industry, we are seeing a continued need to enable all individuals to access both public and private buildings with disabled access being a fundamental planning consideration. There is also evidence of a trend towards individuals ‘future proofing’ the homes that they love by installing lifts. The clear intention is that in years to come they will not be forced to move house. Innovate’s aim for the future is simple - to continue to grow the company with the intention of being the UK’s foremost provider of platform lifts, their installation and service. We will be continuing with the development of our team of engineers and support staff to further enhance the services offered to our clients. Company: Innovate Lifts Contact Email:
