To start, Benjamin provides us with a brief overview of the firm and offers more insight into its typical client base. “In 2015 Michael Norton and his wife Belen Morenés Solis joined the company as partners. Previously Michael had been selling and developing in Sotogrande since 1995, as Sales Director of Sotogrande SA. Soon after Louise Elkington joined the team as a Sales Executive. Over the last 23 years, Open Frontiers have been appointed sole agent for a number of prestigious developments on the Costa del Sol. More recently, the company was given the privilege of being sole agent of a new development in La Reserva of Sotogrande, Senda Chica, a promotion of 102 modern apartments. This brand-new development is expected to be finished June 2021. “As the ultimate holiday resort in Southern Spain, we are entirely focused on listing and selling property in Sotogrande. Additionally, over the coming years we plan to concentrate more and more on exclusive projects in the region.” Open Frontiers have a professional client approach and as Benjamin goes on to explain this has served them well right from the company’s early days. “By promoting high-quality and delivering a perfect after sales service, we have been able to retain our client base since inception. Moreover, one of our major strengths is that we are able to speak in over eight different languages. With 80 % of our new clients being introduced by our existing clients, it is clear we have been doing something right.” Over the last two decades, the team have been involved in a number of projects which they are particularly proud of as Benjamin reiterates. “The latest project is a small luxury apartment development. All 14 apartments are already reserved even if we did not start the building. This is mainly because of location and the high quality. As you can imagine, we are proud to build the most exclusive complex within Sotogrande, with A-Cero being our architects.” Following the outbreak of COVID19, like many other businesses, Open Frontiers were severely affected between March and July this year. However, despite this, the sales during the summer were the best they have been in 25 years as Benjamin confirms. “Sotogrande is very low density, and people are looking for space, so we’ve still had a lot of leads and visits, although due to COVID19 it’s not been your typical summer here.” Finally, Benjamin comments on the future of the business and offers more insight into some of its plans moving forward. “Sotogrande is a very particular place, 4.000 acres, fully secured, five golf courses (including Valderrama), No1 in Europe for Polo, the best international school, three beach clubs, and a marina with over 1.000 berths. This is the power of our region, and all of this with low density.
