The Saudi- Bahrain King Fahd Causeway (Light Poles), Yanbu Industrial city where the team provided the majority of street lighting, Train Stations in Mecca, Rabigh, and Jeddah. In addition, Shairco has an extensive list of recent projects providing its products to different entities such as airports, office buildings, and factories. One of its most recent projects for example, is the GRP luggage spiral shoot for the new Jeddah KAIA Airport – terminal 1. The challenge that the team faced was in the design process, due to limited space that was given to the team on the jet way, and to figure out a way to keep all bags safe when sliding down the shoot. Importantly, staff overcame these challenges through its engineering department by using the latest software and CNC prototype for testing, along with many years of experience. The company’s first test concluded with the bags sliding down in nine seconds from a height of 5.5 meters in a shoot with two loops (720 degrees). Another project that the firm undertook, was the decorative street light poles installed in the coastal city of Al Khobar. With regard to what challenges presented themselves, faced, was a very short period for delivery during the holy month of Ramadan. The team overcame the challenge, by working in two shifts for long hours to meet the delivery deadline and official commencement of the new Corniche Park. Through the company journey, the team discovered that fiberglass is sustainable for its region, it has many attributes that fit perfectly because it has a long life span, fire retardant additives, corrosion proof, chemical resistant, and strong mechanical properties. The team considers fiberglass a strategic material for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, due to the abundant amount of sand and petroleum as national resources. On the other hand, KSA is lacking other natural resources such as wood and iron available in other regions. Through its many years of experience, the Group discovered that in Saudi Arabia, fiberglass has an extensive market where it provides solutions and sustainable products to its clients. Fiberglass has a wide variety of applications that are essential for its country infrastructure. One example would be the GRP pipes domain that had a huge market demand in the last decade. The main challenge remains to develop suitable products that meet the international, and local certifications and quality systems, while being able to promote its products commercially. The company is more focused on the public-sector buildings, coastal areas infrastructure, and industrial facilities. Well-qualified to undertake any project, the team follows the ISO 9001 certification for all of activities, and is also SASO approved for its light poles. The team also follows the ASTM standards in all of its designing and testing activities.
