Paul tells us more about the legislation changes facing the UK transport market. “Here at Presbar, we are currently preparing for legislation changes under the new IR35 legislation so we can keep all of our clients and drivers happy. We have made time out of our busy schedules to talk to all of our drivers and give them the best advice we can on how to deal with the impending changes. “We manage to stay ahead of regulatory changes such as impending IR35 legislation changes by being up front with our staff and creating time to sit down with them individually and figure out the best solution for them going forward, we try our best to accommodate their needs and keep them in line with legislation.” Currently the industry is suffering from a shortage of drivers and Presbar, like most, is not unaffected. Paul elaborates on how the firm has handled such challenges. “Just like everybody else in our industry, we have found it challenging to recruit, but we have countered this by keeping all of our drivers busy and going above and beyond to make sure that they are happy working for us. We have a large amount of long term drivers who work for us unlike the high-turnover of most recruitment companies. In addition to this, we offer incentives like reduced or free driver CPC for drivers who have served with us for a certain period of time. Over the years, we have established a personal relationship with the majority of our drivers and they know they can call on us for anything, whether it be advice or help. “Our approach to hiring staff is very different from other companies, we don’t recruit consultants on paper. We have recently recruited two consultants who on paper have no experience as recruiters, but we seek for potential, and we prefer to choose candidates who we think we can train personally and mould them into our company and our way of doing things. Following their recent success in SME News UK Transport Awards 2020, we caught up with co-founder, Paul Prestwich to discover more about the award-winning services Presbar consistently delivers to their clients. “We unlike most recruitment companies have a relaxed approach with our staff. Our view is as long as the job is done and done right, and all tasks that need to be completed are completed then we are happy. Our staff always know that we are here to help, as we have an open door policy. Additionally, we also ensure that we have a keen interest in the personal lives of our staff as well. We often host events and go on social events with our staff and families. The way we see it is our team at Presbar are all one big happy family, and that is instilled from the get-go.” Bringing the interview to a close, Paul concludes by telling us what he believes the future holds for Presbar. “Expansion is always on our minds. Currently, we are looking to expand and open a new office in a different region, as well as securing a big enough premises to host our own on-site training. Ultimately, we have set ourselves a goal of achieving this within the next 12 months.”
