Oldham town centre leisure centre has a shimmering aluminium façade by leading architectural finishing firm.

Aliva, the UK leader in exterior and interior finishes crafted a façade that defies the elements and remains stunning 24:7 – utilising 2,500sqm of aluminium in a ‘random’ pattern of three anodised finishes: two etched and one mirrored.

Developer Willmott Dixon and sub-contractor Range Roofing recommended Aliva UK’s Alucovering to GT Architects for the building. The leisure centre is the first in a series of projects as part of the town’s £100m redevelopment scheme, including a cinema in the old town hall and an independent quarter for local businesses.

Nigel Fraser, Principal Regeneration Officer at Oldham Council, said: ‘The aluminium fully met the Council’s expectations for the facade. The finish picks up changes in lighting conditions throughout the day, and the reflections generated by the setting sun are particularly dramatic. It is clearly a quality product that provides interesting variations to the appearance of the building and contributes to raising the profile of the council facility, meeting the aspirational intent of the development.’
