About Bow Valley Waste Management Commission
Best Construction Waste Management Organisation - Alberta
The Francis Cooke Resource Recovery Centre is the Bow Valley’s place for dry and non-hazardous waste. Mostly construction, renovation and demolition waste. We divert 16 different materials from the landfill operation and use our own machinery to grind wood or asphalt and turn compost into products. The facility handles about 80% of the waste generated by the Bow Valley economy. We do that with 12 employees, are powered by a 20 kW solar power installation and use recycled biomass for heating. We’ve even protected a pocket of endangered Limber Pine on our property. All of this fits into our business model of being financially self-sufficient.”
