We are delighted to be featuring multi-award-winning Greek company BllendDesignOffice (Bllend) this World Architectures Day. Bllend is a design house with an expansive and interconnected outlook, fusing light, landscape, environment, and nature within its work. It provides an innovative service that transcends current design norms and technical standards, with every project incorporating research-informed data.
BllendDesignOffice offers a unique approach to both residential and commercial property environments, always beginning from the understanding of just how important a building and its surrounding environment is, and the impact it can have on the lives and wellbeing of the people who use it. It always considers things in a wider context, a concept it extends right the way through from the furniture used in a room, to the way a room fits in a house, to the way a house sits in its estate, to the way the estate fits withing the broader plans of the city infrastructure. The contextual framework employed by Bllend aims to unite experience and knowledge, and feeds back to create what can be seen as a truly holistic design experience.
The multidisciplinary design firm is capable of translating its big picture thinking to all areas. This includes architecture, furniture design, interiors, branded environments, landscape, lighting, and the successful fusion of all such diverse disciplines together in one project. This has resulted in Bllend’s artful approach to architecture which is considerate of the industrial purpose, engineering, and company branding requirements. The firm’s ability to weave the many different disciplines it excels in together creates superlative results. Its expertise and proficiency is a blessing for each and every project, enabling a perfectly tailor-made solution for clients that skilfully combines materials, form, light, and human needs.
“The design outcome is not a static solution, but a dynamic design organism that grows in line with the natural and built environment via an organic bonding.”
Bllend is a spirited design company, promoting comprehensive amalgamations between beauty, utility, and style to deliver outstanding outcomes. Any alterations to architecture are made with full consideration given to that most important of results, the benefit to the end users, while it seeks to fully utilise the potential of each material used in the design process/outcome. It will happily adapt to specific surroundings, always with the aim of achieving something amazing. It might work around a project’s natural environment, or merge different architectural styles to create a uniquely weird and wonderful effect.
The company’s design of furniture runs parallel to its architectural services, with its consideration classed as an integral part of the design concept. It offers bespoke collections such as its modular, industrial look eco-frame kitchen cabinets, which provides clients with an alternative and sustainable choice. This kitchen look is designed using low tech, affordable materials, which give the impression of a raw, unfinished design. It’s a furniture concept that sits beautifully in a log cabin environment, or a high-tech city loft apartment. It’s designed with all ergonomic features and design aesthetics in mind, and yet it can also be easily mass produced.
Bllend has been involved in many hospitality, leisure, and travel projects such as the stunning Domotel Agios Nikolaos in Western Greece, where dense vegetation merges with the beautiful blue lagoon to create a stunning turquoise palette. This 5-star resort has been designed to entice travellers who crave high value architecture and design within an enchanting, untamed environment. On a vastly different axis, there is the Garden City Resort in Kalamata. This former residential building was expertly adapted into 25 luxury suites, each offering a different colour mood according to guests emotions. The hotel draws inspiration from nature, and encourages guests to book according to the emotions evoked by each room theme.
BllendDesignOffice’s many emotive and evolving spaces strive to create a sense of balance, inviting people to find wellbeing at work, at rest, and during recreational activities. Its embrace of residential and commercial spaces maximises all buildings spatial design, and enhances life experiences for human occupants. To Bllend, the connection between people and their spaces is intrinsic, with thoughtful design truly allowing for inspiring interactions to fully bloom.
